Dandadan is wholesome in its portrayal of characters; no one ends up being particularly unlikeable. Even the “villains” of the story have good motivation. It is truly amazing when an author can make you feel for a villain.
The horror elements are so creepy and unique to this sort of action manga. Yokai and aliens resemble something out of your nightmare. which makes them excellent villains but also feels extra harsh when you hear their backstories.
